Go For Good!
As a company and as individuals, we at The Go Game are committed to being agents of positive change in our world. In our day-to-day work life, this means jetting around like international superspies and bringing the fun to all corners of the planet. But in addition to producing great events and showing people a fantastic time, it’s important to us to do our best to do good as a company. Well, what does that mean, exactly? For The Go Game, it means that we try to be thoughtful and considerate about how we run our company and make it a goal to effect positive change with our people, our talents, and our profits. We’ve developed three cool programs that comprise our goal of ‘Giving Back’: Charitable Donations, Non-Profit Partnerships, and Environmental Commitment.
Charitable Donations
We’ve mentioned that ‘Giving Back’ is something that’s important to us as individuals as well as a company. One of the best things about working for The Go Game is that the company empowers its employees to support worthy causes through our yearly holiday donations. At the end of each year, each Go Game employee gets to choose one or more nonprofits to receive a substantial charitable donation. We’ve donated 5% of our profits each year to a wide variety of organizations, including local groups that do amazing work right in our home turf of the San Francisco Mission District, national nonprofits that reach out all across the country, and major international organizations that do valuable work all around the world. Non-Profit Partnerships
In addition to financial support, we give in-kind donations by offering our time, our talents, and our expertise to worthy organizations. In our perfect world, anyone can play The Go Game, anytime, anywhere. In many respects, that was the original vision of The Go Game. We honor that vision by running games at a reduced or no cost for groups who couldn't otherwise afford to pay for a Go Game. Every year, we run at least twelve free or reduced-fee events for organizations that do great work and need team-building too! We've run some incredible events for camps, youth-serving agencies, foundations, and a host of other non-profit agencies. In addition to directly donating games, we’ve run free games in support of organizations, to raise money through live and silent auctions, corporate philanthropic donations, and community contributions. Environmental Commitment
One of the most exciting aspects of The Go Game is our ability to run games anywhere in the world. We’ve produced events in small towns and big cities, on gorgeous tropical islands and in icy winter wonderlands up in the mountains. Unfortunately, getting to these diverse locations requires an awful lot of flying, and that amounts to more carbon than we care to think about. After a year of fretting and feeling depressed about that, we discovered carbon offsets and renewable energy credits! That means that we keep track of how much greenhouse gas emissions we are responsible for (340.6 tons of carbon dioxide last year), and then we "neutralize" those emissions by spending money to develop alternative sources of energy. We are in the business of Fun, not environmental research or advocacy, but we recognize that in order for us to do business in a healthy business climate, we need a healthy climate.
